Safety

Safety first. Fun right after.

Meeting new people should feel exciting, never risky. Here's how we look after everyone, at events and in the Discord.

In an emergency, call 999

Police, ambulance and fire, anywhere in Bahrain. On the beach or out on the water, the Coast Guard is 994. Once you're safe, tell a host so we can help.

Online harassment, scams or blackmail? Call 992

That's the Ministry of Interior's Anti-Cyber Crime hotline. You can also WhatsApp them on +973 1710 8108 (opens in a new tab). Then tell our Trust and Safety team so we can act on it too.

Our side of the deal

How we keep events safe

  • Public places only

Our events happen in public venues and partner spaces. Never at someone's home.

  • A host at every event

Someone from our team is there to welcome people, keep an eye on things and help if anything feels off. Just ask for the host.

  • Trust and Safety team

Women and men on the team handle every report from events and the Discord, and keep it confidential. You choose who handles yours.

  • Clear rules

Everyone who comes agrees to our code of conduct. Break it and you're out.

  • Photos with consent

No-photos stickers at check-in, and any photo comes down the same day if you ask.

  • Leave anytime

You never need a reason to go home. No explanation needed, ever.

Made a friend?

Meeting up one on one

Amazing, that's the whole point. Our events are group events, though, so anything one on one happens outside the club. Here's how to keep it good.

  • Meet somewhere public the first few times. Daytime is easier.
  • Tell someone where you'll be and who you're meeting.
  • Get yourself there and back, so you can leave whenever you want.
  • Never lend money, and never share bank details, ID or passwords.
  • If someone from the club makes you uncomfortable, even outside an event, tell us. We take it seriously.

Online and in the Discord

Same rules online

The Discord is part of the club, so everything on this page applies there too.

  • Ask before you DM someone. If they say no or stop replying, leave it there.
  • Never share your address, ID, bank details or passwords. Our team will never ask for them.
  • Watch out for scams, selling and "business opportunities". Report them to our Trust and Safety team.
  • Block and report anyone who bothers you, then tell our Trust and Safety team so we can act on it too.
  • We only contact people from our official accounts: @bahrainsocialclub and [email protected].

Photos

Your face, your call

Plenty of people in Bahrain would rather not be online, and that's their call.

  • Ask for a no-photos sticker at check-in. Anyone wearing one won't appear in anything we post.
  • We ask before any face goes up. Every person, every time.
  • We never tag anyone without asking.
  • Please don't post other people without their OK either.
  • Want a photo taken down? Tell us and it's gone the same day. No questions.

Code of conduct

The club rules

By coming to anything we run, online or in person, you agree to these.

  • Be kind and respectful to everyone, including venue staff.
  • Respect people's space and boundaries. Physical contact only when it's clearly welcome.
  • No harassment, bullying, threats or unwanted advances, in person or in DMs.
  • No hate or discrimination. Whoever you are, wherever you're from, whatever you look like, you're welcome here, and so is everyone else.
  • No selling, pitching or recruiting without our OK.
  • No drugs or weapons, and please don't turn up drunk.
  • Follow the venue's rules and the laws of Bahrain.
  • Respect photo consent and people's privacy.

If someone breaks the rules

Depending on what happened, that could mean a quiet word, being asked to leave, or a ban from our events and the Discord. If something is serious or illegal, we'll support the person affected, and we may involve the police.

Report a concern

Tell us. Big or small.

Something at an event, after one, or in the Discord made you uncomfortable? We want to know.

  • At an event: tell the host or anyone from the team.
  • In the Discord: message someone on the Trust and Safety team.
  • Any time: use this form, or email [email protected].
  • In danger right now: call 999.

Only the Trust and Safety team reads reports, and you choose whether a woman or a man handles yours. We keep them confidential and only share what's needed to keep people safe, or where the law requires it.

Only the first two are required. You can report anonymously.

Who would you like to handle your report?

Share as much or as little as you're comfortable with.

Names or Discord usernames, if you know them.

An email or phone number. Leave it blank to stay anonymous, but then we can't reply.

Sent privately to our Trust and Safety team.

After you report

What happens next

  1. We read it

Your report goes to the team member you chose, and only the Trust and Safety team.

  2. We check in

If you left contact details, we'll get back to you and ask what you'd like to happen.

  3. We act

From a warning to a ban from events and the Discord. Police where it's needed.

  4. We keep it private

We don't share who reported, and we only tell people what they need to know.
